Update Device Configuration Settings

Device Configuration settings allow you to route traffic to the closest Lookout point of presence (PoP), specify DNS servers to be used for internet access, and configure the Lookout client to coexist with other VPNs.

  1. In the Management Console, select Administration > Enterprise Integration.
  2. In the Traffic Steering menu, select Clients.
  3. On the Device Configuration tab, enter the appropriate configuration information for your environment:
    1. Tunnel Setup DNS Server IP: Enter one DNS server IP address to resolve to the nearest Lookout point of presence (PoP).
We recommend that you specify a DNS server that supports EDNS0 for better resolution to the closest Lookout PoP.

Google’s DNS 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 servers support EDNS0. We recommend either of these IPs to resolve to the nearest Lookout PoP. Be sure your firewall allows the DNS server IP you entered.

    2. Secure Internet Preferred DNS Server IP: Enter one or more preferred DNS servers for MacOS client devices.
Separate the IP addresses with commas.

This option is the preferred DNS resolver IP address for internet traffic. If you do not specify an IP address, Lookout uses the network’s default DNS resolver to resolve or public domains; for instance, the DNS server of the internet service provider (ISP) or the corporate Wi-Fi.

    3. Excluded Routes: Enter a list of IP addresses for third-party VPN servers.
You must enter these IP addresses in a list; this field does not support an IP address range.
  4. Click Save to save your entries and close the text box.
  5. Click Save to save the configuration in the Management Console.
