Key Use State
A key can have any of these use state values:
Key Use State | Value |
---|---|
Assigned Primary (Encryption) | The key is in use as a primary key for at least one application. A primary key cannot have an inactive status. To make a key inactive, the administrator must assign a different key to the application as the primary key. |
In Use (Decryption only) | The key is being used by one or more applications as a decryption key, but it is not currently assigned to an application as a primary key. A key being used this way does not expire. |
Never Assigned | The key is not being used. It has never been assigned to an application and has never been used to encrypt data. |
You can delete only keys with a use state of Never Assigned.
