Create New Key Without Assigning It

You can create a new key that will be available for future assignments.

  1. From the Key Management page, click New.
  2. Enter key information.
    • Status - Select Active (default) or Inactive. If you want the new key to be available immediately for assignment as a primary key, select Active. A key must have a status of Active to be a primary key.
    • Key Name - Enter a name for the new key.
    • Key Expiration Date - Enter a date or select a date using the calendar icon.
    • Create Key Password - Enter a password, using the guidelines that appear in the popup.
    • Confirm Key Password - Re-enter the password.
    • Select Key Server - Select the key server from either the Cloud KMS list (for hosted deployments) or On-Premise list (for hybrid or on-premise deployments).

  3. Click Save.
    The Management Server adds the new key key to the list of keys, with the status you selected (Active or Inactive), and a use state of Never Assigned.
