External User Management: External User Portal
The External User Management page shows a list of all external users who are currently approved to open and view decrypted files, or who are in the process of being authenticated. This page provides a convenient way to track and manage access to encrypted email attachments by external users.
The External User Portal enables you to authenticate external users so that they can access encrypted email attachments sent to them. When a user receives an email with an encrypted attachment, the file has a .ccsecure extension added to the file name. Example: employeeaccounts.xslx.ccsecure.
To open encrypted files, users must have a client application installed.
To access the External User Portal, external users must either be sent an invitation from the administrator or go through a one-time self-registration process. Once registered, users can open encrypted files. The files are decrypted and readable in plain text.
When external users self-register, the email they receive to create an account is sent only if the user’s domain name is added as a pre-authenticated domain in a policy.
