Add New Client

To allow external clients to access DPaaS web services, you can add clients to provide access to DPaaS services outside the Lookout gateway. The API client section of the DPaaS page lists any existing clients.

The client list shows the following information:

FieldDescription
Client NameThe name given to the client.
Client Type

Determines the type of actions allowed for this client. The options are:

  • Tokenization -- a data protection client that enables tokenization and encryption.
  • Email -- enables email processing from outside the Lookout email gateway. Generally, external clients will not use this type.
  • DTT (Data Transformation Tool) -- a generic data protection client that enables tokenization and encryption. For more information about the DTT, see the Data Transformation Tool Gateway Reference Guide.
Restriction

Whether or not system access for the client should be open or restricted to a specific IP address. The options are:

  • Observed -- Access is tracked but not restricted.
  • Restrict -- Access is restricted to an IP address you specify. If you need access for additional addresses, you can create additional clients for each IP address for which access is needed.
Client IPIf you choose Restrict as the access option, the IP address you specify is shown here. If you choose Observed, this entry is blank.
Internal

False is an external client; true is an internal client. All clients created by users are external.

Internal proxy and email gateway clients are added automatically.

Last SeenWhen the last connection attempt was made to DPaaS services for the client. For new clients, this entry will show Never Seen.
StatusThe connection status for the client. For new clients, this entry will show Never Seen.
ActionsActions you can perform once the client is created and saved. These include displaying the token for the client, resetting the token as needed, editing the client properties, and removing the client. These actions are explained in the following steps.
