Intune Mobile Application Management Without Enrollment for BYOD Users

Configuring Unmanaged Device Filters in Intune

Microsoft Endpoint Manager uses filters to apply Managed Apps policies to specific device groups. These filters will be used in the App Protection Policies you will create when creating Assignments.

You configure a filter to apply Managed Apps policies to specific groups of unmanaged BYOD devices. The first filter shown in the procedures is for Android. Then you repeat the procedure to create a filter for iOS. In the Azure Management Portal left pane click Intune.

  1. In the Microsoft Intune admin center click Tenant Administration.
  2. In the Tenant Administration blade click Filters.
  3. Click +Create and select Managed Apps,
  4. In the Basics blade, enter these parameters:
    Filter name A meaningful Filter name. Example: Lookout MAM-WithoutEnrollment
    Description An optional description
    Platform Android (choose from the dropdown menu)
  5. In the Rules blade Property dropdown, select deviceManagementType (Device Management Type).
  6. From the Operator dropdown, select Equals.
  7. From the Value dropdown, select Unmanaged.
  8. Click Next and then Create.
  9. Repeat this procedure to create a filter for iOS.
